At Hollywood Crush we are lovers of both YA novels and movies based on YA novels here, so we were keen to chat with author Nina LaCour, who is adapting her 2010 novel, “Hold Still,” into a movie—without the support of a deep-pocket studio. Nina’s hoping to raise $17,000 through Kick starter to cover production costs on the film project, and is about $4,000 shy of that goal.
“From the beginning, I’d imagined and hoped that it would become a movie, “Hollywood Crush of her novel Nina told, which tells the story of a girl dealing with the suicide of her best friend.
During a dinner conversation with Kristyn Stroble and Amanda Krampf, the trio was discussing Nina’s second novel, “The Disenchantments,” which from the outset had generated movie interest from agents and producers. As they speculated on the different directions other people could take her story, the conversation then turned to their vision for “Hold Still” as a film and how they could make it with complete creative control.
